George Clinton sues former business partner over copyright theft

Through the ’70s, producer George Clinton led two bands—funk act Parliament and the rock-influenced Funkadelic—filled with dashes of Afrofuturism and absurdist humor. Together, they and various splinter groups and side projects formed the most innovative funk collective of the decade. P-Funk’s heady mix of party anthems and rumpshakers was marked by the band’s comic book-style mythology and recurring characters. Legal woes shut down P-Funk in the ’80s, but their music had enormous influence over a generation of hip-hop, dance, and rock talent.
