The legend goes that Justin Bieber was discovered when his manager, Scooter Braun, came across a video of the then 12-year-old performing a cover of a Ne-Yo song that his mom had uploaded to YouTube. Almost overnight the Ontario-born singer’s world changed, as he began recording songs with Usher and started to plot his debut studio album, 2010’s My World 2.0. At first specializing in pop for tweens, Bieber’s career progressed as he moved into an R&B zone—complete with a sideline in collaborations with respected rappers like Ludacris, Big Sean, and Drake.
